State house hardship
PA Wellington State rental- tenants who can prove cases of hardship will be treated on their merits when the time comes Tor them to purchase or quit their homes under the Government’s new rental policy.
This assurance was given by the Minister of Housing (Mr Gair) in answer to a question in Parliament. Under the Government’s scheme, tenants are provided with incentives to save for their own homes. After six years of tenancy, they will either be able to buy their home or will have to find other accommodation.
Mr Gair, asked if people who were unable to save enough would be evicted, said cases would be studied by the Housing Corporation and decided on their merits. Cases of hardship, meh a« ill health, would ba taken into account. a
