Fijian women lose hockey
PA Nelson Nelson defeated the Fiji women’s hockey team 4-2 at Nelson on Tuesday to end the tourists’ winning run on their New Zealand tour.
Up to Thursday’s match against Nelson, the fast Fiji side had beaten five provincial teams, including Marlborough on Saturday. Nelson led 2-1 at the break but Fiji equalised almost immediately play resumed. Scorers: Nelson, Shona Donald 2, Marion Whyte, Melvie McCarthy. Fiji, Lucy jalo and Mary Mudu.
