West Germans win fencing
NZPA Montreal West Germany won the Olympic men’s foil team championship, defeating Italy, 9-6, in the final at the Winter Stadium. > It was the first time West 'Germany had ever reached an Olympic foil team Tina’. In j 1936 and 1960 they were bea. ten in the semi-final bouts but went on to take the bronze in both cases. France, world champions for 1975, were beaten bv two (hits by Italy in a semi-final after an 8-8 tie and took the bronze medal.
