3200 kilometres (about 2000 miles) under its own power. Below: A new version of the Anglo-French Jaguar strike aircraft. This R.A.F. Jaguar has been converted for photo-reconnaissance duties and is based in West Germany. The long pod under the -fuselage houses cameras and infra-red scanners which operate forwards and on both sides. Photographs are taken automati-
cally and each has the exact position marked on it by the plane’s weapons aiming system.
About ton Jaguars are being produced for the R.A.F. and the French Air Force. The aircraft is capable of supersonic speeds, even at very low altitudes: it can take' off from short, grass runways and has a range of about 2900 kilometres.
