Migration gain

PA Wellington A net migration gain of 5673 to New Zealand’s population, for the year ended May 31, compared with gains of 27,526 last year and 30,635 for 1974, was shown in provisional statistics. The Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris) said that during the two months since April 1, 1976, there had been a net migration loss to population of 26,317 compared with losses of 22.225 and 20,108 for the corresponding two months in 1975 and 1974 respectively. “Tite first few months of each March year are usually characterised by a net migration outflow. In the month of May, 1976, there was a net migration loss to population of 14,072 compared with losses of 11,096 in May, 1975, and 10,708 in May, 1974,” he said.
