CHEAP AT THE PRICE

PA Wellington Coins rained down on Mr J. A. Wicks, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday when a man hurled a handful of 2c pieces at the Bench after he was sentenced to two years imprisonment. Richard Clifford Brunton, aged 21, an unemployed forestry worker, had been piling the coins on the dock throughout the hearing of his case. Neither the Magistrate nor the court stenographer was hit by coins and no extra penalty was imposed on the accused for the incident, which occurred just before he left the dock. Brunton had pleaded guilty to eight charges of false pretences, and was appearing for sentence on six charges of burglary.
