Steel, Tube orders down
NZPA Wellington Steel and Tube Company of New Zealand Ltd had a good three months to June 30, but there were some “ominous signs on the horizon," the chairman (Mr F. H. Kember) said at the annual meeting. Sales and profits had in-1 creased compared with last year, but in the contracting section of the business, for-ward-orders were not replacing present work.
This down-turn in contracting would overspill on to the merchandising and other sectors, he said.
