Man bashed by thieves
Christchurch detectives are looking for five men who entered a flat in Sydenham early yesterday morning, beat up the occupant and stole a stereo unit worth $BOO. The 26-year-old man who was assaulted is in a fairly comfortable condition in Princess Margaret Hospital. The five men entered the flat in Forbes Street at about 12.30 a.m. They demanded money from the man and then beat him up with what were believed to be wooden axe handles. They then left, taking with them the stereo Set. Detective SeniorSergeant A. C. Lynskey said he would like to hear from anybody who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
