Building down in Clich
Building activity in Christchurch declined last month and the value of permits issued by the Christchurch City Council was almost $350,000 below the figure for June, 1975. Figures supplied by the council yesterday show that 313 permits, with a value of $3,716,942 were issued, compared with 374 permits with a value of $4,066,737 in the corresponding month, last year. Most of the building was in new homes, which accounted for 73 permits with a value of $2,358,897. Commercial building accounted for only 15 permits (value, $191,540) and industrail building for $499,381. In spite of last month’s decrease, totals for the year are still up on last year. So far this year 943 permits with a value of $13,121,625 have been issued. The corresponding figures from last year were 1090 permits with a value of $10,818,485.
