Screening for gonorrhoea
PA Wellington The screening for go-; norrhoea of all women! attending family-planning or obstetric and gynaecology clines has been recom-’ mended by venereologists, I says a recent Health Depart-1 ment circular to hospital boards. According to the Auckland Hospital Board’s Superinten-dent-in-Chief, Dr R. F. Moody, the system would be “overwhelmed” if every woman had to be checked for gonorrhoea. Further consideration of the proposal was urged by Dr B. Faris at a meeting of the board’s legal and finance committee. He said it would be a massive scheme with serious implications for pathology laboratories. It would be a colossal task to i have heated culture media Opiates for each patient. The subject will be discussed by the board’s hospital services committee later this month.
