Harbour plans
The Marlborough Harbour Board is planning to spend nearly $1 million a year for the next five years on capital works. It has approved a fiveyear capital works programme totalling $4.7 million, and expects to find $2.8 million by way of loans. Next year the biggest item is for earthworks at Havelock ($100,000) with reclaimation work ($30,000), minor capital works ($35,000), buildings ($10,000) and plant ($50,000). Most of the 1978 figure
of s’.B4 million involves a projected land buy, the start of a new office building in Picton and work on the proposed Picton Ma-1 rina. The board plans to spend | more than $1 million in l 1979, and the projected works figures, for the fol-, lowing two years are $BBO,OOO and $730,000. The board plans to! launch a new suction dredge, which has been built in Picton by its staff,, in August. Its first major i work will be to deepen the! boating marina at Havelock.
