WIND-UP BIKE

The Honda Motor Company recently released its first wind-up motor-cycle. However, this is not what it sounds like. The machine, a moped, still uses a conventional 50 cu. cm two-stroke engine but the starter is operated by a large spring. The rider pumps a lever on the side of the motor to wind-op the spring, which spins the

power unit when the dual purpose rear brake lever is depressed. The new moped, which is known as the NCSO Express, features direct crankcase induction via a reed valve. It has been designed primarily for the Asian market and no plans have been made to export them to New Zealand or Australia.
