Runners-up get second chance

t Special Correspondent > GISBORNE. No Show and Denagh's , Planet, the runners-up on the * first day of the Poverty Bay ; Turf Club's meeting at Gis- ' borne, will have a chance to j avenge their defeats at the second day today. They will clash in the respective legs of the T.A.B. double, the Teachers’ Whisky and the Waihirere Wines Handicap. No Show meets Princess Eulogy on slightly better terms than on the first day, but his will be the toughest of the two encounters, especially as Prin- ' cess Eulogy has only half a kilo more on her back this time. No Show comes down one kilo and a half from Saturday. These two appear certain to dominate proceedings again.; though Fancy Nancy and Cree, which filled the minor placings on the first day, appeal as capable of having improved sufficiently in the meantime. Denagh’s Planet will again have the benefit of an apprentice allowance and the 1400 m might suit him a tittle better than it may Gai, which scored an easy win over 1200 m on Saturday. Denagh’s Planet is well up to carrying weight, but Gai is not a robust mare and she could find the extra two kilos a bit of a handicap, especially at the extra distance. Dunkellin rattled home strongly for his close sixth on the first day and as it was his first run for several weeks he should be all the better for the run. Charlie Cash and fresh runner. Waiteti Lass, are others with claims to support. Selections:— 10.30 a.m.—Hexton Hurdles: Bob's Luck, Tere, French Cuisine. 11.10 a.m.—Roseland Maiden —First division: Chorisfer, Blue Diviner.
