College will play United
Christchurch United, holder of the Stars Travel Junior National Cup for under 18 soccer for the last three years, and the Canterbury secondary schools’ side playing under the name of Teachers’ College, have been drawn together. Teachers’ College won its preliminary round match against Western bv 2-0 yesterday, and was then drawn against United for the second round on Sunday, May 23. The other Canterbury area ties are: Rangers v. New Brighton. Technical v. Papanui Suburbs. The draw was also announced yesterday for the third preliminary round of the Lion Chatham Cup, on Saturday, May 23. It is: Shamrock v. Rangers, Woolston W.M.C. v. Papanui Suburbs.
Boxing.—Esteban de Jesus, of Puerto Rico, scored a unanimous decision over the World Lightweight Boxing Council champion, Gattu Ishimatsu, of Jaoan in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Saturday.
