Kaiapoi and Woolston lead billiards
Kaiapoi and Woolston went a point clear of Shirley I, which had a bye, after comfortable 3-0 wins in the Fifth round of the Canterbury A grade billiards competition last week. A feature of the round was the number of good breaks. Eric Simons (Hornby i had a fine break of 96. Brian Kirkness (Riccarton had one of 84, and his teammate, Graham Foster, had breaks of 55 and 74. Shirley I increased its lead in the snooker tabic to two points after a 3-0 win over Hoon Hay I. New Brighton is the second placed team with Richmond anc Woolston a further point back.
