Mini-ball starts
A mini-ball competition for children between the ages of nine and 12 starts today’ in the Shirley Boys’ High School gymnasium under the auspices “ of the Canterbury Basketball Association. The games would continue throughout the week, ending on Friday, the organiser. Mr John Groeott. said yesterday. The children would be divided info four age groups, each playing at different times. The nine-year-olds will start at 9 a.m.. the 10-year-olds at 10 a.m.. the 11-year-olds at 11 a.m. and the 12-yearolds at noon. The rules for miniball are similar to those in basketball but a smaller ball is used and the backboards are lowered from the usual 10ft.
