False alarm investigated
The police are investigating a false fire alarm at the Aranui Hotel in Pages Road on Monday evening. Two engines from the Christchurch central and Woolston fire stations rushed to the hotel after an alarm was set off about 10 p.m. Fire caused minor damage to a garage at 219 Bealey Avenue late on Monday evening. Two engines from the Christchurch central and St Albans stations were called out about 10.10 p.m. after a Ministry of Transport officer saw smoke coming from the garage and raised the alarm.
