Hua: ‘Serious class struggle’
New Zealand Press Association—couunghl> PEKING, April 20. The new Chinese Prime Minister Mr Hua) has personally, and publicly, emphasised that the present “antirevisionist” struggle will be carried through to the end after the ousting of the Deputy Prime Minister. Mr Teng Hsiao-ping.
In his first public address since being appointed to succeed the late Chou En-lai, Mr Hua told guests at a Peking banquet honouring the visiting Egyptian VicePresident (Mr Hosni Mubarak) that the present movement was "initiated and led by our great leader. Chairman Mao.”
“The struggle to criticise Teng Hsiao-ping’s counterrevolutionary revisionist line, and to repulse the Right Wing deviationist attempt to reverse correct verdicts has already won great victories, and is further developing in depth.” Mr Hua said.
“It is a serious class struggle, a continuation and deepening of the great proletarian Cultural Revolution, and the Chinese people are determined to resolutely carry this great struggle
through to the end.” Mr Hua had earlier confirmed statements to visiting foreign dignitaries that Chinese foreign policy would not be modified despite the changes since Chou's death.
“The revolutionary’ line in foreign affairs formulated for us by Chairman Mao will continue to be implemented,” he s_ld. The official Communist Party daily’ newspaper, •‘People’s Daily,” todaycalled on China's millions of Red Guards, soldiers, and ordinary citizens to sharpen their pens for intensified denunciations of Mr Teng, who appears to be down and out but not yet utterly discredited.
“We should pick up our! pens as our knives and; guns, and concentrate on the I criticism of Teng . . . and we should push the struggle to beat back the Right deviationist wing,” the newspaper said.
“Millions upon millions of army men and civilians are indignantly denouncing the arch unrepentant capitalistroader and the handful of class enemies who created the counter-revolutionary riots.” The newspaper indicated that supporters of Mr Teng’s more moderate approach to China’s continuing revolution have not given up. “The class enemies have received heavy blows, but they will not be reconciled to their defeat,” it said.
