Prosecution threat over photographs

AUCKLAND. Detective Chief Inspector P. M. Gentry told the Auckland Citv Council's cultural activities and pro- | perty committee that a ! prosecution might have followed if the council’s art gallery had exhibited two pictures which depicted transvestites and their comments. It had been the comments, written by the transvestites, which had been considered 'possibly indecent. Councillors expressed concern that the police had waited almost until the exhibition was readv to go ahead before stepping in. but Mr Gentry said that the police in Auckland had received a file on the exhibition onlv ' shortly before. The exhibition, which was partly sponsored by the .Queen Elizabeth II Arts 'Council, had been shown in 'other towns before arriving in Auckland.
