D. G. Holden suspended
The Washdyke horseman, D. G. Holden, was suspended up till and including April 24 by the judicial committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club at Riccarton yesterday. Holden, the rider of Grey Way in the George Adams (Tattersail) Handicap, was found guilty of allowing his mount to crowd Audaciter, with resultant interference to Karnak, about 200 metres after the start.
The Awapuni trainer, W. G. Ivil, was fined $75 for the wrongful entry and acceptance of Exotic in the Papanui Handicap. The race was for class four horses only but Exotic has a class five classification. M. C. Thornley, the rider of Judge Obahiah in the Champagne Stakes, was fined $5O for weighing in at half a kilogram more than the weight at which he weighed out for the race. An inquiry into the wrongful entry and acceptance for Our Charles in the Great Easter Handicap was adjourned until such time as a statement from the horse’s trainer, R. F. Pankhurst, could be taken.
