Mini yacht race to Britt
Gavin Britt, of the Christchurch Club, won the international mini one-ton cup event at the Waimairi Model Yacht Club’s course at the Groynes. The skipper of Breakaway Bucket, Britt accumulated 61 points in the variable conditions. He was one point ahead of the joint second place-getters, Kevin Bums (Australia), with Faux Pas, and Rob McQuade (Christchurch), sailing Salor. The series was a forerunner to the Rothmans national championships.
