Songsters to tour S. Island
The Palmerston North Citadel Salvation Army Songsters will be in Christchurch on May 8, as part of a 10-day South Island tour.
The 60-member group will give a concert in the Sydenham Salvation Army Citadel at 2.30 p.m. on that day. The tour is part of “Share Your Faith”, the Salvation Army theme for 1976. The group will also visit Ashburton, Timaru, Waimate, Oamaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown, Greymouth, Nelson, and Blenheim. Described as a “worldclass choir of gospel singers”, the group was formed in 1890.
It will be their first visit south of Dunedin or to the West Coast, and plans are being made for a visit to Australia next year. The musical director (Mr Noel Mann) has led the group for 25 years.
