Nuclear power opposed
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Leaders of farming, church and women’s groups will be asked to join a campaign to ban nuclear power plants and warships in New Zealand. A diverse group of people will be asked to attend a conference in Wellington on June 12 to form an antinuclear plant organisation. The conference is being organised by a steering committee established by a meeting of anti-nuclear power groups in Wellington on March 20. A member of the committee, Mrs Byrdie Mann, of Auckland, said at the Values Party conference that the forthcoming campaign would transcend party politics. Although the Values Party supported the banning of nuclear plants, it was not organising the June conference, she said.
