Betting a record
Betting records were shattered at the Easter meeting of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, which ended at Addington Raceway on Saturday. On-course betting on Saturday totalled $546,255. an increase of $162,012 over last year w'hen the weather was unfavourable. Off-course betting on Saturday amounted to $404,023.50, and increase of 5146.820. The total on-course for the two nights and one day was $1,200,748. an increase of $249,617. Offcourse betting increased by $ 572,287.50 to $L449,643.50. The meeting on Saturday was the first the club has run with a late start. The first race was run at 12.55 p.m. and the crowd was 13.250, an increase of 3000 over last year.
