Petrol fund appeal
The Christchurch Combined Women’s Service Clubs and Associates, which raised enough money to buy a specially equipped transport vehicle for quadraplegics in the spinal unit at St John of God Hospital last year, has now founded a maintenance fund for the vehicle. The sum of $7400 was recently presented to the hospital to establish the “wheelchair transporter replacement. and maintenance fund.” The fund does not, however, cover the cost of running the vehicle daily. Petrol vouchers for resident patients in the spinal unit would be most acceptable, says a news release from the service clubs. Vouchers may be sent to the spinal unit, St John of God Hospital, Nash Road, Halswell.
