Grass win for Walker
(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. The world record mile holder, John Walker, of Auckland, returned to the running track yesterday and won the Hastings Highland Games mile. Running on grass, Walker beat Rod Dixon, of Nelson, in 4min 2.9 sec after Dixon had led through most of the first three laps. Other features of the games included two New Zealand weight-lifting records set by Precious McKenzie and the completion of a 300 km road run by the long-distance runner, Siegfried Bauer. McKenzie took the bantomweight snatch record with a lift of 97.3 kg and later broke the clean and jerk mark with a lift of 127 kg. J
