Shooting charges
Two men charged in connection with a shooting in Ashburton on Friday were remanded to the Magistrate's Court at Ashburton tomorrow when they appeared briefly in the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch on Saturday morning. Bail was set at $5OO, with two sureties of the same amount for each defendant. One man was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Paul James Gibson, who suffered a severe shotgun wound to an arm. The other man is charged with suppressing evidence.
