Chatham Islands’ problems
Sir, — Your correspondent, A. M Harris, asks where the National member for Lyttelton was when the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Highet, and Cr Skellerup visited the Chatham Islands. Colleen Dewe has visited the Chatham Islands twice in the last few months, and it was as a direct result of her comprehensive report to Cabinet that the Minister toured this remote, but integral part of the Lyttelton Electorate. When Miss Dewe last visited the islands, it was with the Governor-Gen-eral in January. However, the Chathams represent just one part of the electorate, and Colleen has already visited most areas and become familar with local situations. This is in addition to the many hundreds of requests for her time. — Yours, etc., ROBIN GORMACK. CHAIRMAN, LYTTELTON ELECTORATE. N.Z. National Party. April 12, 1976.
