AUSTRALIAN CROP
The Australian Wheat Board expects to receive 11,100,000 tonnes of wheat from the 1975-76 harvest, the fourth biggest on record and much better than expected. The chairman of the board, Mr J. P. Cass, said this in a letter to wheatgrowers last month. Of about 9.600,000 tonnes available for export, he said that about 6,500,000 tonnes had already been sold and the board expected the balance to be taken up by other regular markets between now and November 30. With low world wheat stocks and no prospect of any substantial increase in them at least until 1977, it seemed there was a good chance that export w'heat prices would be maintained at their present level into next year.
