Mass rally on abortion

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. A mass rally of women calling for the repeal of laws against abortion will be held at the opening of Parliament. A statement from the Abortion Rally Committee in Wellington said that a meeting of more than 50 women from different organisations in Wellington had decided attacks on women’s rights to abortion must be halted. The statement said many women had become concerned with the attacks .on the Auckland Medical Aid Centre. The organisation was also concerned about statements by members of the Labour Party and the Natonal Party that the finding of the Royal Commission on contraception, sterilisation, and abortion would be subject to a conscience vote in Parliament. A spokeswoman for the rally committee said women from throughout New Zealand would attend. "
