Ferrymead grants
Sir — Ferry mead, a few weeks ago, ran an open day. l . There was no charge fori either gate admission or for[ any of the entertainment; available at the park. I, [therefore, read with horror that they have received or are about to receive another astronomical grant from the local bodies: yet other charitable organisations like budget services and even a| group more deserving. Orana| 'Park, who do not have earn-; ina power at the present j [time, go without. Free, openj days are fine if you are [making a-profit. They should •not be permissible, if this i level of assistance is required out of ratepayers’ money to keep them going,-. I [think Mr Rich and his committee should get their 'priorities right and reconsider iheir decision. — Yours, | etC " A. D. McCONNEL. 1 March 18, 1976.
