CORSO launches appeal
The Christchurch CORSO committee is launching a big appeal to raise funds for its "development education" programme in Canter- ' bury. It is the first time a; CORSO committee has run: this type of appeal. All money; raised will be spent in New I ; Zealand on "development' education.” that is, publicise ing the plight of poor coun-i tries. The regional organiser (Mr! R. A. Consedine) said that; it was decided to keep this appeal separate from the! annual cash appeal to avoid! 'confusion. "The main aim of the! appeal is to help New Zea-) landers become more aware.; iof the real causes of world! poverty and underdevelop-; ment.” said Mr Consedine. ) The money raised will be) used to publish materials such as booklets and leaflets ion important Third World issues, films, and lectures. The initial target of the appeal is $20,000. A number lof bottle drives will be held during the next six weeks to raise funds.
