Say it in acid
A huge area of Lancaster Park which was damaged by vandals yesterday will have to be returfed, the chairman of the Victory Park Board (Mr C. H. j. Rhodes) said last night. The words “Welcome to Racist Game” were burnt into the ground in acid, in three tiers. Describing the vandals as "irresponsible larri-’
kins,” Mr Rhodes said that it was most disheartening to hate the ground ruined after it had been prepared for the season. The protest appears to be related to the arrival in Christchurch of two Springboks, John Williams and Johan Oosterhuizen, who will plav for Fergie McCormick's XV against a New Zealand Maori side on Sunday.
