George Best for Sydney club
(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. The Sydney soccer club I St George-Budapest pulled off a giant promotional coup I when it announced the signings of Irish star George Best and Manchester United manager, Tommy Docherty. Best will play four matches with the club at a time to be decided and Docherty will be “guest” coach of the Saints for two weeks after the completion of the present English soccer season. The St George club president, Mr Alex Pongrass,' finalised talks with Best this week in London and persuaded Docherty to come to! Sydney. No financial arrangements; were disclosed. A St George club official, 1 Mr Les Bordacs, making the! announcement, said the only; doubt surrounding Best’s! signing was the actual tim-j ing of his visit. “Best will be here for the; period the club feels he will! make the biggest impact l during the Australian sea-; son,” Mr Bordacs said. 1
