'Women and Power' series
I Y.VZ. Pres* .4**n— Copyright) . WELLINGTON. 1 A pilot film on Mrs Indira Gandhi has been completed in India for a New Zealand television series on “Women and Power”. The series is being produced by the Wellingtonbased film company, Pacific Films, in conjunction with Endeavor Television. The director of Pacific Films, Mr John O’Shea, said that Mrs Margaret Thatcher, I Mrs Golda Meyer, the EmI press of Iran, the Minister | for the Condition of Women .in France, and Mrs Band|aranaike, the Prime Minister lof Sri Lanka, had agreed to I act as subjects. Mr O’Shea said the pilot ■ film will study the evolution lof Mrs Gandhi’s coming to I power and her background. ' “It’s really a biographical I study, and is not concerned | with contemporary politics, I although obviously these | will be of interest.” : He said a crew of six left for India on December 5 last year and were expected to return to New Zealand yesterday. The crew comprised the ’ Pacific Films director, Barry I Barclay, (better known for his television production ol “Tangata Whenua”), an executive producer, John Barlot, two cameramen and a sound recordist. Dairne Shanahan had joined the team as interviewer and researcher, and | would be conducting the 'conversations with all the women subjects, Mr O’Shea I said.
“The whole series willi only go ahead if we can find
adequate sales for it,” he said.
“We’re scheduled to have the pilot programme completed at the end of March. This initial programme will
i be designed to sell itself and I to sell the others.”
Whether or not the Mrs Gandhi film will be screened
on television in April will depend on whether it is released as a pilot or as part of the completed series.
French dressing.— An oil and vinegar salad dressing made in an electric blender will not separate or need shaking up for several days.
