New archery records

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. New Zealand records set during Thursday’s performances in the Rothmans national archery championships were slashed during the last dav of the competitions in Dunedin yesterday. Shooting against strong winds affecting open target shots, Mrs Lexie Arnott (Dunedin Club) bettered her previous day’s effort in the women’s free style field event with a New Zealand record of 472 points — 34 up on her first record.

Mrs J. Croft and Mrs J. Fortune also broke the previous record of 388 points, and four women improved the 56 target record of 726. Mrs Arnott now holds the new national 56 target field record for free-style shooting. In the junior free-style field shoot, R. McLaren’s Thursday record of 380 was yesterday beaten by D. Hoddinott, who shot 402. He also broke the 56 target record of 709.
