KAIAPOI, LTD, KAIAPOI: To discharge up to 5227 cubic metres of treated effluent from meat processing works, at a maximum rate of 150 litres per second, to the Courtenay Stream at a point approximately 700 metres upstream from the Kaiapoi River confluence. Treatment: fine screening, air flotation for collection of fats and greases, catalytic oxidation of sulphide wastes and biofiltration of all waste water. Emergency sewer overflow: to discharge up to 2550 cubic metres of sewage per day at a maximum rate of 35 litres per second, to Sherrings Drain at Sparks Road, in the event of complete pump failure in a dual pump installation or sewer casualty and only after storage of 450 cubic metres has been utilised. This application would replace, if granted, an existing right NCY 730372 covering a similar emergency sewer overflow to Hendersons Drain at corner of Sparks Road. The applications may be examined at the office of the North Canterbury Catchment Board, corner Latimer Square and Worcester Street, Christchurch, during normal office hours and any person or body affected may object to the applications by notice in writing delivered to the Secretary, North Canterbury Catchment Board, P.O.
