X9OBI DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SPEECH THERAPISTS A WORKING PARTY has been established by the Minister of Education to review the provisions for the training of speech therapists, for the education and health services The working party which is chaired by Professor D. W. McKerracher, Professor of Education, Clinical and Special Services, University of Otago, is asked to report to the Minister of Education by July, 1976. The terms of reference for the working party are: “To consider and report to the Minister of Education on the training of speech therapists in New Zealand for the education and health services, with particular reference to: — (a) The number, content, length, institutional placement (University, teachers college and/or technical institute) of pre-entry and any other full-time training courses for speech therapists, and their relationship with training courses for other education and health services personnel. (b) The location of training courses. (c) The policies which should be followed in recognising that speech therapists who have completed a training course are suitable for employment in the health or education services.” Written submissions are invited from interested organisations or groups.
