Relay run will mark anniversary
A relay run from Christchurch to Dunedin will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Boys’ Brigade in New Zealand. The run will be started by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. G. Hay) from the Town Hall steps at 7 a.m. on January 20. Mr Hay will sign two messages to be carried by the boys on the relay. One will be to the Mayor of Dunedin. the other to the national president of the Boys’ Brigade. The messages will be signed by the Mayors of Ashburton, Timaru, and Oamaru as the relay passes through these centres. On the first day the boys will run to Ashburton, arriving about 4 p.m. The next two days will take them to Timaru and Oamaru, and the relay will finish in Dunedin at 7.30 p.m.. all the boys running the last leg.
