“Chopper guards”
Sir, —Children on bicycles have always been a source of constant lookout for motorists, especially in Christchurch. However, the invention of the “Chopper Guard” aerial and flag, mounted on the rear of bicycles, something that all motorists can see, is a very good and extremely sensible idea — one that should save a lot of uni essary accidents in future. This last statement though, is rather dependent on the availability of these aeri Is. Numbers of bicycles are without them, and for some children at least, it has not been through lack of trying. Why is it therefore, that they may onlv be sold at Shell service stations? Surely a more genera! sale, perhaps at other service stations too, would help increase their availability.—Yours, etc., J. W. K. BOTTING. January 8, 1976.
