U.S. admiral dead

(N.Z. Press Association) CORONADO (California), January 8. Rear-Admiral William Vincent Fox, who spent 42 years in the United States Navy, has died at the age of 85, the Associated Press reports. Admiral Fox was president of the United States Joint Purchasing Board at Wellington in New Zealand from 1943 to 1945, and later commander of naval supply centres at San Diego and Pearl Harbour. He retired in 1952.

No funeral was planned for Admiral Fox, who died in hospital last Friday. After cremation, his ashes "were to be scattered at sea.
