Pit Stops
The McLaren team plans to use a radio telemetering system to set up its team cars for the Indianapolis S(JO race this year. The system records running measurements from numerous points on the car — including suspension and steering angles, and gravity forces — which are then fed into a computer. Computing the results takes about three days. ' The Embassy Hill Racing Team will be completely wound up, it has been confirmed. P o r c h e ’ s “secret weapon” for the next Le Mans race is said to be a very light version of the Carrera, together with a 650 b.h.p. turbocharged 3-litre flat six engine. Tyres have been designed specifically for the car by Dunlop, and the drivers will be Jochen Mass and Jacky Ickx. According to European reports, the new Porsche is so light that it will have to be ballasted to meet, the minimum weight limits.
Wilson Fittipaldi, the elder brother of the former wolrd champion driver, Emerson Fittipaldi. has decided to retire from driving, and instead will manage another Brazilean driver. Ingo Hoffmann, in European Formula 3 and Formula 5000 races.
