Pin-piling on Maui held up by swells
CN-Z. Press Association > NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 8. A heavy swell at the Maui tower site, off South Taranaki. has again prevented a start being made on pinpiling to secure the structure to the seabed. Fifteen-foot swells forced the derrick barge Atlas and its support vessels away from the tower today, and forced the pipelaying barge Kokan ■ Pioneer 1 to seek shelter off lOakura, north of Cape Egmont. Preparations for the work are continuing aboard these barges, but piling work cannot begin until the seas die down considerably. Each of the four pine piles is at present lying in sections on the two work barges and piling barge.
