Gang violence
Sir, —It might be interest- 1 ing and informative if a 1 study were made into the ' reasons for many of these ; “bikies” joining up to form gangs associated with vio- [ lence. How many are literate beings? HoW many are ■ in certain defined types of'' iobs and what are the reasons]' for their being in them, ' might provide an answer to] the whole problem. The! answer is certainly not in? more force by the authorities! but discipline, beginning in the first class at. primary! school. The progressives to-j : day encourage so much in-i discipline that the rudeness, insolence, etc., at secondary! school level are merely] transferred to the public and. police when the children; :leave school. “Begin at the. ’beginning” is not just an in-' istruction from “Alice ini’ Wonderland.” —Yours, etc., V. H. ANDERSON. I January 7. 1976.
