Five leave ship’s crew

GREYMOUTH Five Japanese fishermen, including the captain, left the squid fishing ship Kinsho Maru at the week-end after what was described as a domestic dispute aboard. The captain and the four crew members were all relatives. One of them was brought ashore by a local fishing boat on Saturday suffering from . stomach pains. He was discharged from hospital today.

The ship put to'sea again at 1.30 a.m. on Monday, but with only seven crewmen aboard it is unlikely that they will be able to resume full-scale fishing. A representative for the owners said that it had not vet been decided whether more men would be sent out from Japan to man the vessel or whether it would sail for its home port. Those who left the ship are likely to return to Japan from Wellington.
