Sir, —After reading LilyMorgan’s letter I. too, wonder when some people will ever learn. When National took office the cupboard was bare and subsidies cannot be paid without revenue. Reducing the milk subsidy and using that saving for health services is not putting the boot in and your correspond-
ent should avoid making such fatuous assertions. The economic measures taken by th-j new Government. should ■ have been taken by the old Government long ago, instead of building up huge deficits which the Treasury warned could not be sustained. National has only done what a Labour Government, if re-elected, would (have been forced to do. ~ (Yours, etc..
