Regional fire heads named
6V Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The chairman of the Fire Service Commission (Mr J. ,K. Hunn) has announced the names of commanders of the six new fire regions to come into existence on April 1. Each will have the rank of Tire force commander. They are: No. 1 region. Mr jLloyd Wilson, of Auckland; No. 2, Mr W. Clarkson, of [Hamilton; No. 3, Mr P. ; Douche, of Palmerston North; [No. 4, Mr D. A. Varley, of (Wellington; No. 5, Mr B. A. Hyland, of Christchurch; and No. 6. Mr I. C. Wesley, of Dunedin. After April I, the present 277 fire authorities will be abolished and brigades will come under one of the six regional centres. The six regions in turn will be divided into a total of 22 fire areas, which in turn will be divided to coin-' cide with the Post Office 111' I toll groups. The new organisation will ; co-ordinate fire brigades, operations, back-up arrange(ments, training, use of resources, exercises, and conferences.
