Gashes in Nigeria
CV.Z. Press .4 ssn—Copyrights LAGOS (Nigeria), Dec. 28. Life was reported to be returning to normal on Saturday in the Nigerian southeastern state own of Ugep after widespread clashes between the army and civilians on Christmas Day in which a number of people were killed.
No official casualty figures I have been released at Lagos I but the “Daily Times” news-j paper of Lagos reported that 13 people were killed an! about 100 injured in the; riots.
The rioting, which also resulted in widespread damage to property, ended after the swift intervention of the south-eastern Governor and the commanding officer of the infantry brigade which is stationed in the area.
