Firm sends its cheer to charity
I (N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Dec. 19. ' A Blenheim firm has stopped its traditional Christmas gift of liquor to clients, and has given the. equivalent money to a charity. The concrete engineering (and construction firm of R. T. Scott, Ltd, has given a total of $6B to the blind and to the Crippled Children Society. The firm’s general manager (Mr Alistair Black) said that the move was greeted with approval and enthusiasm by clients. “When I went along to one big local firm, the manager was enthusiastic, and said he would think about something similar for his own firm next year,” said Mr Black. “Tilings we tend to think of as necessities are denied to those people less fortunate and we feel that our efforts could well be directed to where we can derive material pleasure as well as helping to bring happiness where it is most needed," he said.
