Milestone in golf
A milestone in the history of the Selwyn Veterans* Golf Association was passed recently when Xorman Alexander, of 1 llesmere, recorded the first hole-in-one by a member plating in an association tournament. Alexander achieved the teat at Ellesmere on the day of the association’s Christmas party and it was his misfortune to have to pay the price at the bar on the occasion of the association's largest-ever gathering. More than 100 seterans. and their wives, took part. The association, which was established three years ago by Messrs G. -Sheldon and P. Seoie, of Weedons, and E. Eaves, of Hororata. has grown rapidly from seven foundation members to the 110 it now has and the waiting list is getting longer. The members, who must be at least 55. are drawn from the Weedons, Ellesmere, Greendale, Bumham, Hororata, Eincoln and Lake Coleridge clubs.
